Cost: Included in N'EX Round Trip (¥5,200 adult / ¥2,600 child, already purchased)
Enter via JR gates. Find the N'EX departure board. Go to Platform 5 or 6.
Buy konbini breakfast inside the station if you haven't already.
Do not take the 09:05 — zero slack.
Settle in, eat breakfast on the train. 1hr 15min ride.
N'EX arrives at B1F (basement). You're now in Terminal 1.
At Narita Airport
Step 1: Suica Refund DO FIRST
JR East Travel Service Center
Location: B1F (basement), Terminal 1 — right after the JR ticket gates where you exit the N'EX
Hours: 8:30-19:00 (open when you arrive at 09:20)
What to do: Hand over all 4 Suica cards. Get the ¥500 deposit back from each.
How the refund works
You get back: ¥500 deposit + remaining balance − ¥220 fee
The ¥220 fee comes from your balance, NOT the deposit. Examples:
- Balance ¥1,000 → get back ¥1,280 (¥500 + ¥1,000 − ¥220)
- Balance ¥100 → get back ¥500 (balance eaten by fee, deposit returned)
- Balance ¥0 → get back ¥500 (deposit only)
Always worth refunding — you get at least ¥500 per card = ¥2,000 for 4 cards.
Step 2: Scoot Check-in

Step 3: Tax-Free & Currency
Tax-Free Purchases
If you bought anything tax-free in Japan, hand the customs envelope/receipts to the Customs desk before security. No cash back — the discount was applied at the store. Just surrender the paperwork.
Currency Exchange
At Narita: Exchange counters on 1F (before security) and 4F (after security). Can exchange ¥ to SGD here.
BETTER OPTION Get SGD from a Singapore ATM on arrival (DBS, POSB, UOB — all in Changi T1). Interbank rate beats the airport exchange spread.
Recommendation: Exchange a small amount at Narita (~SGD $50-100 for the taxi) or just use your card. Get the rest from a Singapore ATM.
Step 4: Security + Immigration + Gate
Narita security is efficient. 20-30 min for the full process.
Browse duty-free. Last chance for Japanese snacks. Eat lunch (ramen, bento, etc. in the departure area).
Before Landing: Singapore Arrival Card MANDATORY
SG Digital Arrival Card
MANDATORY for ALL travellers entering Singapore. Must be completed BEFORE you land.

When: Do it at the gate before boarding, or at the villa before leaving. Requires internet — can NOT be done on the plane.
Cost: Free. Ignore any sites charging a fee.
What it asks: Passport number, flight number (TR867), hotel address (86 East Coast Road), health declaration.
Time: ~5 min per person × 4 = 20 min total
DO THIS AT THE GATE You have 90 min of free time before boarding. Fill in all 4 cards while sitting at the gate.
The Flight
Scoot • Economy • ~7 hours
Route: Narita → (Taipei stopover, stay aboard) → Singapore
Singapore time (1hr behind Japan). It'll feel like 21:45 body-clock.
Singapore Arrival
Warm and humid. Evening ~28°C. Light clothes. Packable umbrella useful.
Follow signs to Immigration. Australian e-Passports can use automated clearance lanes (faster).
10-20 min with the SG Arrival Card already submitted. Look for green “Automated Clearance” signs.
T1 baggage hall. 15-25 min typically.
ATM: Withdraw SGD $100-200 from a DBS/POSB/UOB ATM in the arrivals hall (better rate than exchange counter). Most things accept cards though.

Pickup: Level 1, follow “Ride Hailing” signs
Download Grab app + register card before landing. Fixed price upfront but usually more expensive than taxi at the airport.
MRT
Changi → Tanah Merah → transfer TEL → Tanjong Katong. ~40 min, SGD $3.
Not recommended with luggage + kids at 9 PM. Use the taxi.
